South Kensington revolves around the South Kensington Tube Station.
To the west of the station starts the local high street (Old Brompton Road), with many local shops. There are virtually no national stores in the neighbourhood.
The London French school (Lycee Francais Charles de Gaulle) is within 2 blocks of the station, educating over 3,000 students.
To the east and south of the station are the Georgian terraces of Thurloe Square, the Pelhams, Egerton Crescent, Summer Place and Onslow Square.
Finally to the north are some of the great museums of London. The V&A, Natural History and Science museums are all located closeby to the station.
